Actual results: The sent folder - or at least the options for folders to be included within that folder - two folders from Gmail, one called something like 'sent mail' and filed directly under the Gmail account, and another called something like 'sent mail' but filed under something called 'Googlemail'. I hope you can recognise my problem. My excuses for not describing it better: I've fixed it and don't want to risk re-creating it; I am not an e-mail or Thunderbird expert. Perhaps it will help if I give the gist - which is this. When adding a Gmail account to Thunderbird, I end up with more than one folder for sent mail - and, indeed, it is hard to troubleshoot that. Expected results: Thunderbird should - at least if I ask it to - simply and easily produce one Gmail folder within my general ('smart'?) sent folder. For the problem can be put this way: Thunderbird makes a confusing, broken mess of Gmail accounts. (Probably there are other bugs filed about this problem. Searching bugzilla produced . . a confusing multiplicity of results.) I think that the problem occurs on both Windows and Linux. Also, I do fear that this is one of several very long-standing Thunderbird problems that, unaccountably, seemingly no effort is being made to fix.
